Kanye West had been rumoured to be in Shoreditch but was not there

Kanye West has premiered his new video by projecting it onto the side of a London railway station.

It had been rumoured that the rapper would attend the event in Shoreditch High Street in person.

But fans who had gathered at the East London station were left disappointed when Kanye West failed to turn up.

The large number of fans that had turned out briefly brought traffic to a standstill in the surrounding area in east London.

The video for Kanye West's new single Paris, which is a collaboration with Jay-Z from their joint album Watch The Throne, was screened at around 5pm.

The rapper is one of a number of artists who have recently used London for promotional purposes.

Last year, Rihanna filmed the video for her latest single You Da One in Hackney.

BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend is due to take place in June with performances from Ed Sheeran, Jessie J and Labrinth.

Ticket registration opened earlier this week.
