The Happy Mondays have been announced as the Sunday night headliners at this year's Camp Bestival.

The band announced last month that they were re-forming the original line-up for a two-week tour of the UK in May.

Sean Ryder from the band said: "Me and the band are mega-excited to be playing at Camp Bestival. We have heard the crowd are amazing and we will definitely put on a great show."

Camp Bestival takes place between 26-29 July at Lulworth Castle in Dorset.

Dodgy, Little Roy, Redlight, Josh Kumra, Ryan Keen and Jenny O have also been added to the bill.

DJs added to the line-up include Mr Scruff, The 2 Bears, DJ Derek, Maya Jane Coles, Gemini with Dick and Dom back for a second year.

Spoken word artist Scroobius Pip is also due to make an appearance.

Acts already announced for the family-friendly festival include Earth, Wind and Fire, Hot Chip, Kool and the Gang, Chic, Jimmy Cliff, Rizzle Kicks and Adam Ant.

Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank organises Camp Bestival as well as Bestival.

Talking about The Happy Mondays' appearance, he said: "I'm amazed this band are coming to Camp Bestival.

"The Happy Mondays are one of those iconic British outfits that perfectly capture all that's best about our musical make up - indie, dance, rave, pop and Shaun Ryder's lyrical wit.

"I grew up dancing like a rubbish Bez to the Mondays and fully intend to indulge in some creaky freaky dancing come the Sunday night of Camp Bestival. Hope you'll join me."
