Sean Paul, Tinchy Stryder, Flo Rida, Devlin and Azealia Banks are among the new artists announced to appear at this summer's Hackney Weekend 2012.

Those acts will all appear on the BBC Radio 1Xtra stage at the event.

They join the likes of Jessie J, Professor Green and Leona Lewis.

The event, which takes place just ahead of this year's Olympics, will be staged in East London's Hackney Marshes on 23 and 24 June.

Other artists announced are Mindless Behaviour, Chip and Boy Better Know Feat Skepta & JME.

'Vibrant'

Twin B announced the news on his BBC Radio 1Xtra breakfast show and said he was excited about the new acts, including Sean Paul.

"He's had an almighty year," he said.

"He is one of the biggest selling dancehall artists.

"So with us as a station representing that genre, we had to have Sean Paul at the Hackney Weekend on our stage.

"I'm looking forward to seeing DJ Fresh as well because he's working with a few exciting artists in the UK, Rita Ora included.

"East London's full of character, it's vibrant with the mix of cultures and they know how to party."

One hundred thousand tickets are available across the weekend, which is part of the London 2012 Festival.

It will feature more than 100 UK and international artists performing on six BBC stages including the Radio 1 main stage, Radio 1Xtra stage, dance stage, In New Music We Trust stage and the BBC Introducing stage.

Registration

Ticket registration is open until 11pm on Monday 19 March.

Users need to go to the Radio 1 website, where they will first be asked to enter their details and upload a photo.

Those who register will then be able to apply for up to two tickets online or by phone on the 25 and 26 March.

Tickets for the event are free but there will be a small handling fee.

The majority of the tickets are being allocated to people living in Hackney and the surrounding boroughs.

Other acts taking part are will.i.am from Black Eyed Peas, Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Deadmau5, Labrinth, Jack White, The Maccabees, The Ting Tings, Ed Sheeran, Dappy, Lana Del Rey, Chase & Status, Tinie Tempah, Tinchy Stryder, Plan B and Florence + The Machine.

Last year more than 800,000 people applied for tickets at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Carlisle.
