A warrant for Russell Brand's arrest has been issued after police say he threw a paparazzi photographer's iPhone through a window.
The comedian is accused of taking the phone and hurling it into a window of a nearby law firm.
Russell then tweeted a message to fans saying he did it in tribute to Apple creator Steve Jobs.
"Since Steve Jobs died I cannot see anyone use an iphone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory."
The New Orleans Police Department confirmed an arrest warrant.
A spokesman said: "A misdemeanour warrant for simple criminal damage was issued."
It is being reported that the 37-year-old star has offered to pay for the damage to the window.
The actor is filming his latest movie in New Orleans, which is still untitled.
