Ed Sheeran has cancelled four gigs in the USA so he can return home to the UK.

The singer apologised to fans on Twitter saying he had to get back to England for "personal reasons".

He's currently supporting Snow Patrol on their tour of North America.

One tweet the singer wrote said: "I'm announcing a full US and Canada headline tour beginning of June, for anyone that's missed out on shows this time round."

Sheeran, 21, also promised to announce Irish dates soon as well.

He added in another tweet: "Apparently media are running a story tomorrow about how I'm coming home early to enter rehab, I'm missing 4 days of a tour to see my family.

"No rehab just yet, but I am going to Legoland in a few weeks, so might need it after that."

The singer won two Brit awards earlier this year for best breakthrough act and best male artist.

He's due to play Ibiza and Mallorca Rocks, the Rockness festival in Inverness and Radio 1's Hackney Weekend in June.
