Professor Green says being asked to support The Stone Roses was a "jaw-dropping moment".

Speaking at the TV Baftas, he said: "Ian Brown invited me himself. We were working on a song for my first album and we never ended up finishing it.

"Then out the blue I got an email from him saying sorry that didn't happen but would you like to support us? I wasn't going to say no, was I?

Pro Green will warm up for band at their gigs at Manchester's Heaton Park.

The big outdoor shows take place on 29 June - 1 July, with 75,000 people expected for each night.

Other acts supporting include Primal Scream, The Vaccines and Liam Gallagher's Beady Eye.

The gigs sold out in around an hour when tickets first went on sale in October.

Professor Green told Newsbeat he rarely agrees to support slots nowadays but admitted: "When someone like The Stone Roses gives you the chance you don't say no"

The 28-year-old, who was at the awards with girlfriend Millie Mackintosh from Made in Chelsea, said he was also looking forward to Radio 1's Hackney Weekend.

The event will be a home town gig for the Grime star, who was born in the east London borough.

"[It's] going to be incredible. I can't wait to get out and perform Jungle, because my first line in that song is 'Welcome to Hackney'.

Pro Green said he's definitely not tempted to go into acting though.

Explaining his brief cameo in Made in Chelsea, he said: "You saw a flash of my face - just to join the dots so she [Millie] didn't get it in the neck from the producers.

"Because of all of a sudden they couldn't film her relationship anymore could they?"
