Singer Lily Allen has confirmed that she is back in the studio working on new material.

She tweeted the message: "You will be pleased to know that I am currently in the studio with @GregKurstin.

"No big deal really, I'm just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing if anything sticks."

Lily Allen has not released any new music since her second album It's Not Me, It's You in 2009, which was produced by Greg Kurstin.

He has previously worked with Ladyhawke, Kelly Clarkson, Kesha, Foster The People and Marina and the Diamonds.

Lily Allen, 27, announced that she was taking a break from the music business in 2009.

After making her final performance supporting Muse at Wembley Stadium in September 2010, she announced that she was expecting but miscarried six months into her pregnancy.

She set up a fashion rental shop with her sister Sarah and also launched her own record label.

The pop star married her partner Sam Cooper last summer and the couple had their first child, Ethel Mary, in November.
