A sequel to the adult comedy Ted is in the works, says the boss of Universal Pictures.

According to film industry source The Hollywood Reporter, external, Steve Burke told an LA conference that the studio would get production under way "as soon as we can."

The first film did well at the box office, so far earning nearly $400m (£246m) worldwide.

Ted tells the tale of a teddy bear who comes to life and befriends a boy.

But over the years both end up as crude layabouts.

The film stars Seth MacFarlane, Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis.

NBCUniversal boss Steve Burke also said the studio planned to make more franchise films, such as the Fast and the Furious series, as well as doing more animation movies.
