Public Enemy nominated for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Public Enemy have been nominated for the first time to be honoured in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

N.W.A, rock band Deep Purple and disco queen Donna Summer, who died earlier this year aged 63, are also on the list of 15 nominees.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, based in Ohio in the US, was set up to record the history of some of the most influential musicians.

Artists are nominated 25 years after the release of their first record.

A group of 600 performers, music historians and members of the industry will vote which artists will feature or be inducted.

Winners will be announced on 18 April in a special ceremony in Los Angeles.
