Muse will headline next month's pre-Brit Awards gig to raise funds for the charity War Child.

The band will take a rare step away from arenas to play the more intimate Shepherd's Bush Empire in London on Monday 18 February.

The show takes place two days before the Brits where Muse are nominated for best British group and best British live act.

War Child will also receive a special recognition award at this year's event.

The charity works with children in war zones around the world and Muse have been involved with them since 2002.

"We are proud to have a continuing association with War Child," said singer Matt Bellamy.

"It's great to see their efforts being recognised at this year's Brits and we are really looking forward to playing this special show for them."

Tickets will cost £50 and go on general sale on Friday 1 February.

Muse already have four UK stadium dates scheduled for 2013, starting on 22 May at Coventry's Ricoh Arena.
