Rihanna supports Chris Brown at court hearing

Rihanna has accompanied Chris Brown to his latest court hearing in America.

Brown was ordered to carry out community service, after hitting Rihanna in 2009.

Prosecutors say they could find no credible evidence that the singer had completed the hours he was required to do in his home state of Virginia.

A lawyer for Chris Brown said the accusations were wrong and the musician is being "tortured" by authorities supervising his probation.

Mark Geragos also explained why Rihanna had gone to the hearing.

"She thinks it's utterly ridiculous what they're doing to him, as do I."

He said Brown's various community service included working at a stables, shredding documents, painting walls and picking up rubbish.

The prosecution say that there is little evidence that he completed the hours he was supposed to do at a day-care centre his mother used to work at.

"Claims that the defendant cleaned, stripped and waxed floors at that location have been credibly contradicted," they said.

A professional floor cleaner contracted to work at the centre told investigators he had been cleaning the floors during the time that Chris Brown claimed to be doing it.

The prosecution also argues that Chris Brown has ongoing anger management issues, using claims of a fight with Frank Ocean in January as an example.

A judge has asked for more information and there will be another hearing in two months' time.

On entering the court, Rihanna blew a kiss to Chris Brown.

Although the pair split up after he assaulted her in 2009, Rihanna has recently re-started a relationship with Chris Brown.

At the time the singer was left with injuries to her face that forced her to cancel a scheduled performance at the Grammys later that day.

"Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake," she says.

"After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it," she said in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.

In the last few weeks they have been pictured leaving recording studios and watching basketball together.
