An American version of Gavin & Stacey, called Us & Them, will be made into a series.
The news was revealed by Fox Television as it unveiled part of its autumn schedule.
A half-hour pilot episode, which was originally named Friends and Family, was filmed earlier this year with James Corden and Ruth Jones involved as executive producers.
Fox had ordered a script to be written last October.
The US pilot was written by David Rosen and features a similar storyline to the BBC version.
The original production company, Baby Cow Productions, is working on the series along with BBC Worldwide and it's thought the series will be 13 episodes long.
Us & Them will star Parenthood actor Jason Ritter and Alexis Bledel, from The Gilmore Girls.
Gavin & Stacey aired in the UK from 2007 until 2010.
The original series has already been shown in the United States on BBC America.
The production will follow two lovers, played by Mathew Horne and Joanna Page in the UK version, trying to make a long distance relationship work.
NBC and ABC had previously ordered scripts to be written for the show but dropped plans to make a pilot episode.
