The release date of Jurassic Park 4 has been put on hold.
Universal Pictures said in a statement that the decision to delay the film until after the middle of 2014 was to give "the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version" of the next instalment.
The film had been due for release in cinemas on 13 June next year.
Universal has yet to announce a new date for the film's release.
The three Jurassic Park movies released so far generated $1.9 billion (£1,2bn) in worldwide ticket sales between 1993 and 2001, according to film website Box Office Mojo.
Steven Spielberg directed the first two and will be taking on an executive producer role for the fourth film, while Colin Trevorrow will direct the next instalment.
No announcement has been made on casting or on whether stars Jeff Goldblum and Richard Attenborough will return.
The first film, released in 1993, followed the story of a theme park of cloned dinosaurs and generated $967 million (£621m) in worldwide ticket sales, according Box Office Mojo.
It ranks 16th among best-selling films in the US.
It has generated $400 million (£258m) in American sales to date, including $42.5 million (£27m) from its limited cinema re-release in 3D this April.
