US rapper DMX files for bankruptcy at New York court

US rapper DMX has filed for bankruptcy protection in Manhattan, New York, under his real name Earl Simmons.
Court papers show the 42-year-old has less than $50,000 (£32,500) in assets and is between $1 million (£656,000) and $10 million (£6.5m) in debt.
The rapper said in the documents that he filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to allow him "to reorganize my financial affairs".
DMX was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving last weekend.
He was also charged with not having a driving licence but was released from jail after posting $1,235 (£810) in bail.
The New Yorker, who now lives in South Carolina, owes $1.24 million (£814,000) in child support and more than $21,000 (£13,700) on a car lease.
His main asset is a 50% stake in property in Mount Kisco, New York, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal, external.
DMX released his seventh studio album, Undisputed, in 2012 after a gap of six years.
