Y Not Festival in Pikehall, Derbyshire was forced to stop headline act Mystery Jets and Dan Le Sac V Scroobius PIP as thunderstorms kicked in.
On Friday night bad weather meant the stages had to temporarily close and people were asked to return to their tents until the lightening stopped.
The festival which is based in the heart of the Peak District was originally located in a Quarry.
The headliners included The Horrors, The Cribs, 1975, The Enemy and Ash.
After a short storm festival goers returned to enjoy the music and other than a few showers the weather was much improved for the rest of the weekend.
Emily Wilkinson and her friend Rosanna Newcombe were caught in the storm; "We were at the main stage so the Mystery Jets got cancelled so we went back to our tent.
"We've just been tent hopping and watching films. They've got retro cars and sofas to sit in, it's our favourite tent here," said 20-year-old Rosanna.
"I like seeing little acts that you have never heard of they can surprise you.
"John Ainsworth was acoustic and Siblings were the BBC Introducing act and they were amazing. They were like Vampire Weekend and Bastille, I'd definitely buy their music.
"I like that it's a small festival, I would definitely come back next year."
Local band Micro Jupiter played on Saturday. Lead singer Sam Gomm, 21, said he performed to a great crowd.
"We've been together two and a bit years now and played Y Not last year on the Allotment stage.
We all come from Derby so we are from just down the road. We have got Brownstock in Essex coming up.
We've got a decent fan base in Derby. I would say our sound is rock pop with a bit of electric, influenced by Skrillex and Paramore."
