Ant and Dec win three prizes at TV Choice Awards 2013

Ant and Dec were the big winners at this year's TV Choice awards after taking home three prizes.

The presenter duo won best reality show for I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, best talent show for Britain's Got Talent and best entertainment show for Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.

Doctor Who, Coronation Street and EastEnders were also among the winners.

The awards were voted for by the public.

In its 17th year of honouring TV's best stars and shows, the ceremony was hosted by comedian, Ben Miller, and held at London's Dorchester Hotel.

As ever there were tough battles in the soap categories.

EastEnders star Shane Richie, who plays Alfie Moon, was named best soap actor, while Coronation Street's Michelle Keegan was crowned best soap actress, for her role as Tina McIntyre.

Talking to the BBC at the event Shane Richie said there's a "happy vibe" on set and hinted at the return of Barbara Windsor.

"Some cast have gone, new ones have come in. There's only a few of us who have been there that long. Babs [Barbara Windsor] has come back, sadly I didn't get to work with her but there's rumours that she may come back next year....Alfie needs the Duchess."

David Witts, who plays Joey Branning in EastEnders, was given as the soap newcomer prize.

However, Albert Square's rival Coronation Street was named the best soap.

A special gold award was presented to writer and producer Steven Moffat and the team behind Doctor Who, as the iconic family favourite will mark its 50th anniversary later this year.

Speaking on the red carpet, Moffat talked about the Peter Capaldi being named as the new Doctor: "It's nice to get a good reaction to the announcement... We're kind of going silent on that now until he's on the screen and doing the role for real."

The previous series of Doctor Who starring Matt Smith was voted Best Drama Series.

Scottish actor David Tennant won the best actor award for his performance as DI Alec Hardy in Broadchurch. The series about a murder in a coastal town, was the winner of the best new drama prize.

Jamie Oliver followed up his triumph two years ago with a win for Jamie's Fifteen Minute Meals in the best food show category.

Mrs. Brown's Boys took home the best comedy prize for the second year running, while Jeremy Kyle made it three in a row with his mid morning talk show.

Best Soap Newcomer - David Witts (Joey Branning, EastEnders)

Best Soap Actress - Michelle Keegan (Tina McIntyre, Coronation Street)
