ASAP Rocky apologises for 'homophobic' behaviour

ASAP Rocky has apologised for "homophobic" behaviour at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The rapper appeared with openly gay basketball player Jason Collins at the event last month to introduce Macklemore's performance of Same Love, which focuses on same sex marriage.

Before the song Collins spoke about his own homosexuality.

ASAP looked uncomfortable and pulled a face during the speech, he admits it may have come across as disrespectful.

"I'm mad that my facial expressions was like that because I'm not homophobic at all, and that whole thing just came off real homophobic," he said.

When it was his turn to speak at the VMAs, the rapper promoted the release of ASAP Ferg's album Trap Lord.

Discussing the appearance in an interview with The Stashed, Rocky added: "I didn't really notice it until I got home and saw it.

"I apologise to Jason for that, because people was laughing… I really don't think that's funny."

"Truthfully I got gay people in my family... I just found it odd that MTV wanted to stand me next to (Collins)... when they are talking about gay people, that's all. You know what I'm saying?"

The 24-year-old rapper, who released his Long. Live. ASAP album earlier this year, performed at Made In America Festival which was curated by Jay Z.
