Cheryl Cole has split up with her boyfriend Tre Holloway, a spokesman for the singer has confirmed.

The pair had been together since 2012 and were last photographed together at an American Football game between Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers at Wembley in September.

They met when the US dancer appeared alongside the 30-year-old singer for a TV performance on the X Factor.

They had been travelling between the UK and America to spend time together.

Cole was previously married to footballer Ashley Cole but they divorced in 2010.

The same year she dated Derek Hough from US show Dancing with the Stars.

After the announcement, Cole tweeted, external: "Thank you for everything I mean that from the (heart) I love you. You're amazing."

She also tweeted, external her fans to thank them for their support.

"Sometimes I just sit here by myself wondering why you're all so kind and nice and caring towards me. It's gets overwhelming. #soldiers"

Cole has recently been adding to her tattoo collection with huge roses across her lower back and bottom.

Earlier this year, the singer was left 'heartbroken' when her family dog, a Jack Russell called Kiera, started to get treatment for cancer.

In March, Girls Aloud announced they were splitting up following the last night of their 10-year celebration tour.
