Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has said that Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul are likely to feature in the forthcoming spin-off Better Call Saul.
AMC announced in September that the character Saul Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk, would be the focus of a new comedy prequel.
The writer has now confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter, external that Better Call Saul will be a one-hour comedy.
It will be filmed in a Breaking Bad visual style.
Vince Gilligan, who plans to take part in the writing for season one with producer Peter Gould, said that actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul had already expressed excitement about appearing in the prequel.
"We're both one-hour drama guys. So we figured, 'Why not shoot Saul in the same way?'" Gilligan explained.
"Let's get as much of the crew back together as possible, and let's do it the way we did it before so that it will be of a piece with that pre-existing fictional universe that we had so much fun creating.
"Personally, I'd have a hard time resisting putting all these guys in for a cameo or two every now and then."
The show will continue to shoot in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
It is expected to be a bit lighter than Breaking Bad, giving Bob Odenkirk the opportunity to be more of a comedic actor.
There have not been any further details released about the storyline.
Breaking Bad came to an end in September and had record ratings.
Better Call Saul is planned to air in 2014.
