The X Factor contestant Abi Alton has been released from hospital after falling down stairs.

In the early hours of Monday morning the singer tweeted, "out of hospital and thankfully there is no serious damage.

"Thanks for your lovely messages, I'm sure will be right as rain in no time."

A statement from the show added: "Abi Alton went to hospital as a precaution after Sunday night's show having slipped on some stairs backstage."

It has also been confirmed that the 19-year-old has returned to the X Factor house.

She had received mixed reviews from the judges on Saturday night, after performing her version of the Kylie Minogue track, Can't Get You Out of My Head.

After the flash vote boyband Kingsland Road were revealed to be facing the Sunday night sing-off but were saved by the judges.

Shelley's Smith performance of Sam Brown's Stop was praised but only her mentor, Sharon Osborne, voted for her to stay, making her the second "over 25" to leave The X Factor finals.

Miss Dynamix singer SeSe Foster, who is pregnant, was taken to hospital on Saturday night.

The group were given a free pass into the next week of the competition after deciding they would be unable to learn her part in time to perform.

"She [SeSe] has to be very careful. They couldn't perform. At the end of the day that's their decision," said Shelley earlier today.

"I'm not bitter about it at all. They're going to go out this week and hopefully put on a brilliant performance."
