New series of 24 to be filmed in London in February

Producers of 24 have announced that a new series of the show will be filmed in London.

The cast of the Emmy award-winning programme will be shooting scenes at various locations in the English capital in February.

24: Live Another Day, the first new series of the show for four years, will see Kiefer Sutherland return as lead character Jack Bauer.

The series will premiere on Sky 1 in May.

In the previous eight series of the show, 24 episodes were shown in real-time with each one representing an hour in Bauer's life.

However, the new series will take place over just 12 hour-long instalments.

Mary Lynn Rajskub will return as Chloe O'Brian, William Devane stars as James Heller and Kim Raver will play Audrey Raines.

Kiefer Sutherland said: "Hopefully, by the time you're finished watching an episode, you'll feel like you've been there… on the edge of your seat."

However, at a press conference on Monday the 47-year-old actor admitted to being worried about the new series.

"I'm about as anxious and wound up as I've been in a long time," he said.

"There's a great impetus for all of us to create something new with the show."

The series will pick up four years after the events of the last season of 24, with Bauer now a fugitive being hunted by the CIA.

"Things will be blowing up: cars, double decker buses, things like that,'' said Sutherland.

"I'm sure we'll be hated by a large portion of London for snarling up their traffic here and there, and for that I apologise in advance.''

The series began in 2001 spanning 192 episodes, with the final episode broadcast on 24 May 2010.

In addition, a television film 24: Redemption was broadcast between seasons six and seven.
