Banned NFL star becomes used car salesman
- Published
A suspended NFL star has taken a job working at a used car garage in Ohio.
Josh Gordon is serving a one year ban after testing positive for marijuana - his third violation of the league's drugs policy.
The wide-receiver is one of the game's rising stars, and was last year's league-leading pass-catcher.
The ban means he'll miss out on his annual $1.3 million (£800,000) salary from the Cleveland Browns and will now earn his money at Sarchione Auto Group.
The 23 year old isn't allowed to have any contact with his club while he is suspended.
That means he can't practise, go to team meetings, attend events or speak to any Cleveland coaches.
He'd apparently toyed with playing for a club in the Canadian Football League, but his ban means he is ineligible for any American Football side.
Instead, he'll be acting as a 'Goodwill Ambassador' for the garage, starting this weekend - the same weekend the NFL season starts.
Sarchione have refused to comment as yet, but according to ESPN Gordon will spearhead the company's community efforts and work as a showroom salesman.
Gordon's suspension caused debate amongst NFL fans as many thought it was overly harsh.
Those in charge of the game came under fire, particularly as Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice's was only given a two-game ban for domestic abuse.
