Wayne Rooney is officially the most popular British athlete, well, on Twitter at least.
He not only plays for one of the biggest football clubs in the world, Manchester United, the striker is also the current England captain.
The 28-year-old has gained more than 10 million followers, meaning he is also the fifth most followed footballer in the world.
He acknowledged the truly historic moment on Twitter (funnily enough).
But when it comes to the ever growing competition which is Twitter popularity, who has Wayne beaten? And who's doing better than him?
In the British sporting world Wayne is top dog, according to figures released by Twitter.
He's got a far bigger following than Wimbledon champion Andy Murray, who has 2.73 million followers, and Olympic diver Tom Daley (2.61 million).
However, on a global spectrum Wayne's former Manchester United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo wins hands down.
The Real Madrid forward is the most popular footballer in the world on Twitter with a cool 30 million followers.
It turns out Wayne is not only paid more than the Prime Minister David Cameron, he's also got 10 times the followers.
The PM is only on 813,000 followers. Oh, David!
Rooney is also more popular than Towie star James Argent, who has 1.44 million followers.
That technically means more people could be listening to what Arg has to say, than the Prime Minister. A touch concerning, no?
Overall, Rooney is the ninth most popular Brit on Twitter, but who's the most popular Brit?
Judging by the joyous tweet he posted after reaching 10 million followers, we are sure he hopes that one day he will reach the heady heights of actress Emma Watson (14.9 million) or singer Adele (21 million).
Perhaps predictably the most popular British person on Twitter is One Direction's Harry Styles with 22 million followers.
But despite the backing of his many Directioners, even Harry can't take on the queen of Twitter.
Katy Perry is the most popular person on there with a whopping 58 million followers. She overtook Justin Bieber last year.
