Krept and Konan

Voting has begun for MTV's Brand New 2015.

Krept and Konan, James Bay and Becky Hill, all appear in the list of acts predicted to be successful in the next 12 months.

James Bay, George The Poet and Years and Years, who appear on the BBC Music Sound Of 2015 list, are also in the running.

The artists now go head-to-head in a public vote and the winner will be announced on 30 January.

Sinead Harnett and Melissa Steele are the two other female vocalists on the shortlist.

Sinead, who describes herself as "Thairish" (half Thai, half Irish), has already toured with Rudimental and featured on the Disclosure track, Boiling.

Interesting fact, she thought she was going to become a ballerina.

"I went to the Royal Ballet School, I trained from the age of 11, met the Queen, but it felt too restrictive to be a career," she explained at the launch.

Surf rockers Sunset Sons, who are also on the BBC Sound Of 2015 list, feature on MTV's list too.

These guys met in a bar called Le Surfing, in the south of France and decided they needed something to do in the winter when they couldn't surf.

Now, they've left the comfort of snowy mountains and sandy beaches for the UK cities.

"I was a little apprehensive because we had been in our comfort zone," explains singer and keyboardist Rory.

"But the crowds were amazing, I liked it, it was the stepping out into the unknown."

It's been a huge week for George The Poet, Years and Years and James Bay.

All three are also on the BBC's Sound of 2015 list and in the running for the Brits Critics Choice Award.

"It's a big surprise," James Bay told Newsbeat.

"These lists come around every year but it is a whole different kettle of fish when they are talking about you, I'm just going to embrace it."

He's already getting recognised in the street.

"I was walking through town and I was not wearing the hat," he explained.

"This lady came up to me and said, 'Are you James Bay?' I said, 'Yeah.' She said, 'I recognise you from your shoes.'

"I'm not sure how I feel about that one."

Essex based Nothing But Thieves's drummer has no knee caps. True Fact

Nottingham singer-songwriter Saint Raymond and Essex-based five piece Nothing But Thieves complete the line-up.

Saint Raymond has already played the O2 Arena in London while supporting Ed Sheeran.

He has already given up the rock and roll lifestyle, after his first headline tour gig in Brighton.

"First night, I played to 50 people, I was like: 'Right, I am on tour, I'm going to party,'" he explained.

"I found myself on Brighton beach at five am doing rolly-pollys and from that point on I learned to look after myself."

Nothing But Thieves appear slightly more up for the party, as they are suffering two-day hangovers from a birthday party.

They also revealed that drummer Price was born with no knee caps.

"They look like the surface of the moon, two craters," frontman Conor excitedly told us.

So there you go, more useful facts for the pub quiz, once these guys become famous.
