Even if the leaked Sony emails are true about Jennifer Lawrence being paid less than her male co-stars for American Hustle, it doesn't seem to have hurt her earning power at the box office.

Because Jen has been named as the highest-grossing actor of 2014.

The Forbes list, external estimates that JLaw raked in $1.4bn (£901m).

The magazine attributes the earnings to her appearances in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

There are also predictions of big things for the star in 2015, with the release of the second part of the Hunger Games final franchise.

Coming in on a not-too-shabby second place is Chris Pratt.

Guardians of Galaxy was a big hit for him and Marvel Studios when it clawed in $772m (£497m) from cinema-goers.

His fortunes didn't end there, as his voice was used as the lead character, Lego Emmet, in The Lego Movie.

Scarlett Johansson, to some may not really have done much film-wise in 2014 - that's very untrue.

To be fair to her, she has been busy having a child, but she also starred in one of the most popular movies of the year, Captain America.

Thanks to her starring in movies like Lucy and Under the Skin she got her total box office gross to $1.18bn and makes her the third highest grossing actor of 2014.

Mark Wahlberg's starring role in the latest instalment of the Transformers franchise netted him a very sweet $1bn at the box office.

Coming in at number five, is Scarlett Johansson's Captain America co-star, Chris Evans.

But his $801m isn't all down to his superhero action movie, according to Forbes.

He also starred in Snowpiercer, which in fact earned him more than the second Captain America movie and was released on video-on-demand platforms.

Emma Stone takes the sixth place thanks to her roles in Birdman and Woody Allen's Magic in the Moonlight.

Angelina Jolie's role in Maleficent was magnificent for her, as she takes seventh place with a $758m box office tag.

X-Men did wonders for Scottish actor James McAvoy who comes in at number eight.

And the last two places are filled by Michael Fassbender and Hugh Jackman, again thanks to X-Men.
