Great Escape festival announces 10th anniversary line-up

Brighton's Great Escape festival has announced the first wave of acts for its 10th anniversary edition.

Alabama Shakes are the first name confirmed to play in the Brighton Dome, the biggest venue of the event which will take place across the city between 14 and 16 May.

Django Django, Jack Garratt and Laura Doggett are also on the line-up.

Sound Of 2015 long-listed acts Lapsley, Slaves and Soak will play at the festival as well.

Speaking about their set at the festival, Alabama Shakes said: "We just finished our new record and are very excited to share it with the The Great Escape audience."

Dan Bodan, Girl Band, Mapei, Songhoy Blues, Rat Boy and Pretty Vicious also feature on the line-up for this year's festival.

Festival Director Kat Morris said: "The Great Escape is extremely proud to champion emerging talent and creativity across the entire music industry.

"For the past decade, The Great Escape has given upcoming artists the opportunity to perform for 18,000 passionate fans each year who are all hugely supportive of new music."

Kat Morris said that "special guests" who have played at the event in the past will return this year.

Great Escape champions new music with previous acts on the bill including last year's Mercury Prize winners Young Fathers and the BBC Sound Of 2015 poll winners Year & Years.

Other names on this year's line-up include Seinabo Sey, Tobias Jesso Jr, Louis Mattrs, The Lytics, Flo Morrissey, Real Lies and Loyle Carner.
