Alien: Isolation leads nominations for Bafta Games Awards

Alien: Isolation is leading the way at this year's Bafta Games Awards with six nominations.

The British title is up in the best game, British game, design, innovation, audio achievement and music categories.

Far Cry 4 And Monument Valley both have five nominations while 80 Days, Destiny, Mario Kart 8 And Middle Earth: Shadow Of Mordor are all up for four prizes each.

A total of 51 games have been recognised across 17 categories.

Alien: Isolation is made by Sussex-based video game developers The Creative Assembly and is part of the Alien franchise, which started with the 1979 film of the same name.

The first-person stealth game's set in 2137, 15 years after Alien and 42 years before Aliens. It was released for PlayStation, Xbox and desktop computers.

But it faces tough competition in the best game category from Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Monument Valley for smartphones, Mario Kart 8 and Destiny.

There are two new categories this year; original property and persistent game.

Stars who've featured in games are also nominated including Kevin Spacey in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Melissa Hutchison in The Walking Dead: Season 2, Ashley Johnson in The Last of Us: Left Behind, Adam Harrington in The Wolf Among Us, Troy Baker in Far Cry 4 and Logan Cunningham for Transistor.

For the first time, the British Academy Games Awards will be hosted by actor and comedian Rufus Hound.

The awards take place on Thursday 12 March at London's Tobacco Dock.
