Rebel Wilson says that Hollywood is going through a change and it's time for female comedians to "kick ass".
She told Newsbeat: "We are like going off, it's really cool. I think there's just a few more female comedy writers."
The actor, who rose to fame in the movie Bridesmaids, is now hot property in Hollywood.
"It used to be really male dominated, maybe like 90% dudes, but now more young girls are becoming interested in script writing," she said.
"Some guys are brilliant writers for girls but a lot it you'll notice, the guys are super funny and the one girl, is just pretty but that's changing a lot," she added.
Rebel Wilson's latest film, Pitch Perfect 2, is released in cinemas on 15 May.
The comedy sees an all-female group enter a competition to be crowned the world's best acapella crew.

The Australian born 29-year-old stars alongside Anna Kendrick, Elizabeth Banks and Hailee Steinfeld.
"I think [my character] Fat Amy certainly earns her name. She is the most sassy and confident girl in the group.
In the film she is often the subject of weight-related jokes.
"I guess I am certainly not your typical Hollywood actress, for one, I come from the western suburbs of Sydney," the actor said.
Rebel Wilson shares a West Hollywood home with British actor Matt Lucas. The pair became friends while working on the Bridesmaid movie.
"I had no connections into the entertainment world. I just sort of did it myself.
"I am all about what's up here, what's in your brain, not what your physical appearance is."
She added: "When I walked into Hollywood I didn't look or sound like anybody else. I just had confidence in myself and tried to be original.
"A lot of the projects I have in development are like that where it's not about my characters size. I am an actress and I am playing an awesome kick ass character."
