Welcome to the village of Great Edstone

So there's been a lot of talk about #Edstone...

It refers to Labour leader Ed Miliband's giant stone engraved with six election promises.

But believe it or not, there's actually a place called Edstone - well, Great Edstone to be precise. It's a small village in North Yorkshire with around 200 people.

What's life like there? Newsbeat spoke to two guys from Great Edstone about #Edstone.

Andy Dowkes' farm has around 2,000 pigs

Andy Dowkes, 24, lives with his family on their farm, which is just down the hill from Great Edstone.

"It's a nice little village - everyone knows everyone, everyone gets on with each other. If anybody wants anything doing, there'll be someone to help.

"There's an old church, a village hall - that's about it really. Just a normal village.

"It's just nice, quiet, it's out of the way, no busy roads."

He works full-time on the farm, which has around 2,000 pigs and 16,000 free range hens.

He's currently building a house on the farm for him and his girlfriend to live in.

"Dave from the parish council usually puts on afternoon events raising money for the village hall and everyone goes along and has a laugh."

Great Edstone has this sundial

Andy says he hasn't seen Ed Miliband's stone, but no surprise given he works seven days a week on the farm.

"We've had a hectic weekend. I'll have to have a look at it."

He says there's no stone monument in Great Edstone: "There's a sundial but that's about it."

The "really quiet and chilled out" village of Great Edstone

Nathan has lived in Great Edstone most of his life. He lives with his mum and dad, and their dog Boo.

"It's just a tiny little village - lots of nice scenery and that, because it's on top of a hill. Really quiet and chilled out.

"There's an old red telephone box, a village hall that used to be a school, that's about it.

"Whenever I've been to see my brothers in Manchester there's constantly noise and cars and sirens - you don't get anything like that up here."

Nathan recently started working in a nearby brewery. But there's no village pub or shop.

"It's the middle of nowhere. I have go to Pickering or Kirkby to go shopping or drinking."

He thinks Ed Miliband's stone "seems a bit pointless".

He explains: "A lot of money being spent on a nice fancy stone and he might not even get in."
