When a plane collides with a flock of birds it can be messy
- Published
It apparently happens all the time.
We often hear about birds flying into commercial aircraft engines. Well it seems planes can just as easily fly into flocks of them.
That's what happened to a Turkish Airlines flight travelling from Istanbul to Nevsehir in Turkey.
The plane went on to safely land without anyone getting injured on board, but as you can see the collision left its mark.
Birds hitting main parts of the plane like the wings or nose isn't reportedly as serious as when they get sucked into the engine.
If you're wondering why the flock left such a big impact, the nose is made of fibreglass to reduce damage.
To the plane that is.
Plus the nose has the radar behind it.
