Gates open on day two of Radio 1's Big Weekend in Norwich

The second day of Radio 1's Big Weekend in Norwich has started with showers but that hasn't put off any of the 25,000 fans at Earlham Park.

Olly Murs opened the main stage with his 2011 track Heart Skips A Beat.

Foo Fighters are topping the bill on the main stage, with Jamie T taking the headline slot in the In New Music We Trust tent.

The rest of the day includes Taylor Swift, Clean Bandit, George Ezra and James Bay.

Hundreds of Taylor Swift fans raced to get a spot right in front of the main stage as the gates opened at midday.

Olly Murs was joined by two guests for his set.

Ella Eyre performed Up with him wearing a white jacket complete with a big print of Olly's face on the back.

"It's pretty incredible," he tells Newsbeat. "I shouted a lot, I screamed a lot, sung a lot, danced a lot, sweated a lot. They were buzzing.

"And obviously this is such a great thing for Radio 1 to do for Norwich and every year you guys smash it.

"Ella was great. [I was] so happy for her to come on, she performed yesterday so for her to stay over an extra night and perform with me today was lovely.

"I think she is one of the next big things for sure."

Later, Nick Grimshaw was on to do the Travie McCoy rap on Wrapper Up that he'd promised.

"A lot of people were tweeting saying it was Tragic McCoy instead of Travie, but you know what, it was a lot of fun," laughs Olly.

Grimmy wore swimming shorts and a fake fur for his special appearance.

"I'm looking forward to seeing the Foo Fighters. They will be epic tonight," says 26-year-old Rachel Rampling.

Her mate, 25-year-old Kim Relf, adds: "Alt-J, Imagine Dragons and James Bay for definite."

"We have eclectic taste," laughs Rachel. "From Foo Fighters to James Bay. Clean Bandit will be good as well."

When Newsbeat met the girls, they were taking off their brightly-coloured ponchos, as the rain had eased, but the forecast is for more showers on Sunday afternoon.

"We didn't care about our coats," says Rachel. "I'm going to get right in the crowd and I'm just going to get warm enough."

Kim laughs: "I brought this waterproof poncho, so if it rains we'll still be right at the front, straight in there. That's why we didn't straighten our hair today."

Another pair who were first through the gates included 20-year-old Hannah Brown and her friend Gabby Tazzini, 22.

"It is a bit cloudy and rainy but we've come prepared. We've got a jacket and wellies and what's a festival without a little rain?" asks Gabby.

But in terms of who they're hoping to catch?

"Taylor Swift. It's Tay Tay day," laughs Gabby. "We want to see Shake it Off."

"Yeah - we're going to be there shaking off everything," says Hannah.

Ben Sansom and Mike Duce from Lower Than Atlantis talked to Newsbeat backstage

It's busy times for Lower Than Atlantis, who played in the In New Music We Trust tent.

"We played a festival last night," says bassist Dec Hart.

"We came to Norwich played this and now we have to leave, like, literally as soon you put that microphone down, we're going to have to run and leave for another festival."
