Black Spider-Man Miles Morales moves to Marvel Universe
- Published
The Marvel Universe is getting its first black Spider-Man.
Miles Morales will be moving from the Ultimate Universe to the Marvel Universe later this year, where he'll star in a brand new comic series, simply titled Spider-Man #1.
The character is the teenage son of an African-American dad and a Puerto Rican mum.
He was first introduced in 2011, but has only been featured in the Ultimate Universe up until now.
That's all set to change, as the current Secret Wars series sees the Marvel Universe colliding with the Ultimate Universe.

The move means Miles will now be living in Peter Parker's universe, where Parker is still alive.
We don't yet know what will happen between the two Spider-Men.

"This is a direct result of the grassroots, passionate response to the character as both an individual and what he represents to the readership," Brian Bendis, co-creator of Miles, said.
"Miles, a child of color [sic], will be Spider-Man. Not Ultimate Spider-Man, not Spectacular Spider-Man, not Amazing Spider-Man - Spider-Man."
