Foals

Foals have played their smallest gig since appearing at a Manchester house party in 2007.

The band performed a 45-minute set at Radio 1's Maida Vale studios for 30 listeners, who were randomly selected.

They played classic tracks as well as new songs from their forthcoming album, What Went Down, which they've never performed live before.

Lead singer Yannis Philippakis even jumped off a 15-foot high balcony at the London studios.

The Oxford band opened their set with My Number and played hits including Spanish Sahara, ending with new song What Went Down.

They also played two tracks off their latest album, A Knife In The Ocean and Mountain At My Gates, live for the first time.

Speaking to Annie before the gig, Yannis said he'd always wanted to play at Maida Vale with just a small crowd.

"One of my fondest memories of anything radio-related ever was listening to a John Peel session when he had Oxes playing live in that room with an audience."

The band last played there in 2013 for a 6 Music set.
