Spice Girls reunion: Who'd be in and who'd be out?

Next year marks 20 years since a pop landmark - the release of Wannabe.

The Spice Girls went on to clock up sales of 80 million worldwide. 80 MILLION. What a band.

With the anniversary approaching, talk of a reunion has been gaining pace, until Emma denied any announcement was happening. Yet.

So stop right now, thank you very much, and let us look at what the girls are saying.

Melanie B

Scary's the one spearheading talk of a reunion, mentioning it on US talk shows.

Clearly feeling together, believing in whatever, she said: "Hopefully, we'll gather the troops around, and we'll get to do something to celebrate it next year."

But at the most recent Spice get together - David Beckham's 40th birthday - she was the only Spice Girl not to be present.

As for profile, she seems quite happy in America with her slot as a judge on America's Got Talent.

Victoria

These latest rumours claim that the reunion would happen without Victoria.

At the Viva Forever musical premiere in 2012, she turned up after the rest of the girls and missed the crucial red carpet photo of all five.

Lots of people like to claim that Victoria's Spice days are behind her, thinking that she can take it or leave it nowadays.

But it's obvious from her Twitter and Instagram feeds that she's still incredibly proud of her Spice heritage.

However, we can't see her taking a break from her fashion label to practice the dance moves to Stop.

Melanie C

Sporty is arguably the most consistent solo Spice, having released six solo albums.

She and Emma have perhaps the closest friendship of any of the girls and are regularly pictured together. Their friendship is everlasting (much like the sun).

In 2015, they attended the Brit Awards together as a nod to their iconic 1997 performance.

It's clear the Spice force is strong in Mel and we reckon she'll say she'll be there for a reunion tour.

She had a tongue-in-cheek, Wannabe-referencing response to the rumours too.

Emma

Baby denied a reunion was imminent on her breakfast radio show, which led to reports that an announcement will happen later in the year.

She said: "If anything happens and it's concrete, and we decide on something, I will let you know."

So it sounds like she won't be hasty and she'll give it a try. We think Emma would be 100 percent involved.

She also had a Baby-referencing nod on her Twitter too.

Geri

Despite leaving the band first (on that dark day in 1998), Geri has been an enthusiastic Spice promoter ever since.

But in this video for the 2007 reunion tour, external, she said: "I can't see us being like the Rolling Stones and going until we're 60."

She's had the most number ones as a solo Spice - four in all.

Solo success has been a little thin on the ground in recent years - although another go at music is on the cards.

*PS - we're not going to apologise for the awful shoehorning of Spice Girls lyrics into this article. Zig-a-zig-ah.
