5SOS admit their new song is 'like My Chemical Romance'

If you have been listening to 5 Seconds of Summer's new track She's Kinda Hot and thought it sounds familiar, you're not alone.
Some fans have said the band's news single reminds them of the 2006 song Teenagers by My Chemical Romance.
Well now 5SOS have responded to those claims in an interview with US music magazine Billboard.
Guitarist Michael Clifford admitted there are similarities between the two tracks.
He said it is "because of the 12-bar blues", which is one of the most used chord progressions in pop music.
"I think it might be in the same key as well," Clifford added.
"People were like, 'You guys should sound more like My Chemical Romance," he explained.
"Then we do sound like My Chemical Romance and people are like, 'Why do you sound like My Chemical Romance?' Ugh!"

My Chemical Romance split up in 2013, but frontman Gerard Way has since gone on to have a solo career.
He has not remarked about this particular story, but in general seems to be a fan of 5SOS.
The singer told his twitter followers he had been getting a lot of mentions about the Australian boyband and decided to check them out.
"I think they are incredibly talented, great playing, singing. Driving sound, lots of heart. I'm not surprised at the amount of love they get," he posted.
"You may have a different opinion, or want me to have one, but music isn't about choosing sides, it's about celebrating the sounds you love."
