Celebrity Big Brother criticised after Janice Dickinson appears to have a fit

Celebrity Big Brother fans have had a go at Channel 5 after contestant Janice Dickinson was shown having a fit.
The former supermodel, 60, entered the programme's Diary Room saying she'd been stung by a bee and was having a severe allergic reaction.
She says her finger is swollen and holds up her hand, which appears to be turning a different colour, before a member of crew comes to help her.
She's then seen convulsing on the floor.
The programme then cuts to live show host Emma Willis who says Janice has made a 100% recovery.
Media watchdog Ofcom says it's had 37 complaints so far about the episode.

Janice is seen telling the Diary Room camera that the bee sting is travelling up her wrist.
"I don't want this to get into my heart," she says.
"I need an Antihistamine, a Benadryl, a shot or an EpiPen right away. The difference is in the hand colour - it's like purple or black. Do you get it?
"They're turning black."

Janice is then told to stay calm by Big Brother, saying the situation is being dealt with.
A medic then arrives and asks her if she suffers from allergic reactions, to which she says, "Yes".
"Look at these," she says. "They're turning blue. It bit me here and here. It's going up my hand. I don't want it to reach my heart."
She's then asked if she can swallow, to which she replies, "Barely".

She's told to keep breathing by the medic and to stay calm before she's filmed slumping sideways on the Diary Room chair.
She then starts to have what appears to be a fit before sliding onto the ground.
The house medic is heard saying: "I need some assistance in here. Janice appears to be fitting."
Big Brother replies: "Copy that. Emergency services are on their way."

Janice is shown having what appears to be a seizure on the floor of the Diary Room before the footage is cut and the programme returns live to host Emma Willis.
She says: "Now to completely reassure you, Janice received medical attention and has made a full recovery."
Some fans weren't happy that the footage was shown in the Celebrity Big Brother highlights show on Channel 5.

Analysis from Epilepsy Action
Epilepsy Action says it can't comment on Janice Dickinson's individual case and says the episode could have been related to a large number of different medical situations.
If it was a seizure, the organisation has some information on what to look out for and why it happens.
"Epilepsy is currently defined as the tendency to have recurrent seizures.
"A seizure happens when there is a sudden burst of intense electrical activity in the brain.
"There are more than 40 different types of seizure and they all present themselves in different ways.
"It is possible to have seizures that aren't due to epilepsy, such as those caused by low blood sugar.
"Some things make seizures more likely for some people with epilepsy. These are called 'triggers'.
"Triggers don't cause epilepsy itself, but they could make it more likely that someone with epilepsy will have a seizure.
"It is possible that stress, or being in a highly stressful situation, could trigger a seizure for someone with epilepsy.
"We tend to avoid the terminology 'fit', although the term 'seizure' or 'epileptic seizure' is preferred by many people, some people with epilepsy choose to use the word fit."
