NFL London: 5 things to look out for
- Published
The NFL train is rolling into the UK again this week.
And the game between London regulars Jacksonville and the Buffalo Bills is live on BBC 2.
Both teams have had indifferent starts to the season and are in dire need of a win.
As well as the usual big tackles, touchdowns and cheerleaders we've taken a look at what else we can expect from the match.
The real slim shady
With a host of Buffalo's top stars out of this game due to injury (or in one case 'personal reasons, external') it's time for LeSean McCoy to step up.
The running back, who was given the nickname 'Shady' by his mother as a baby, has not quite lived up to expectations since joining the team this season.
At his best the former Philadelphia Eagles star can turn a game on its head with his elusiveness and change of pace.
The pressure is on for a big performance from him today but can he deliver?
We're expecting the real slim shady to stand up.
Angry coaches
Buffalo head coach Rex Ryan has a reputation for speaking his mind and not mincing his words.
His lack of a poker face on the sidelines coupled with the increasing pressure he's under because of his team's recent performances mean he's likely to be getting pretty animated with players and referees this week (even more so than usual).
His opposite number Gus Bradley is no shrinking violet either and so between them we're expecting coach's headphones being thrown to the floor in anger left, right and centre.
Blake Lively
Jacksonville's young quarterback Blake Bortles has shown signs that he could be the real deal.
He has a lively (see what we did there) arm and in his second season in the NFL is starting to play more consistently.
The former first round draft pick has thrown more touchdowns in six games this year than he did all of last season.
We're banking on him to have a big game in London and rise to the challenge of playing against some of the league's best defensive players.
Outspoken players
It's fair to say that things in Buffalo aren't smelling of roses at the moment.
On top of the injuries and inconsistent performances some of the team's best players have publicly complained about how they're being asked to play.
Defensive linemen Marcel Dareus and Mario Williams are paid millions of pounds to put big hits on quarterbacks and they say they're not being given enough opportunities to do just that.
We think they'll channel that frustration and have big games. Unlucky Jacksonville.
Marching Band
Pre-game entertainment at the NFL games hosted in London have ranged from Little Mix to the Stereophonics.
This year week sees the Ohio State Marching Band getting in on the action.
They're famous for this Michael Jackson tribute seen more than 10 million times on YouTube.
