Syfy channel has picked up a new TV version of Van Helsing.

The 13-episode series, which starts filming in January, follows Vanessa Helsing, daughter of vampire hunter and Dracula's nemesis, Abraham Van Helsing.

"The series is unique in exploring a world completely dominated by vampires, while the human characters have to learn the importance of working together to ensure their survival."

But the new film turns that on its head with Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon strapping on Proton Packs to trap ghosts, ghouls and phantoms.

The film's out next July.
