BBC confirms Dr Foster will return for a second series
- Published
Ten million of us got totally addicted to knowing what Dr Gemma Foster would do to her cheating husband.
But she's not going to stop there, as the BBC has confirmed she will be back for a second series.
Suranne Jones will return in the lead role as the ultimate woman scorned.
The actress said: "I can't wait for the audience who invested in these characters to find out what explosive twists and turns [writer] Mike Bartlett has in store.
"Now we can look into what happens to a woman after divorce, when deceit and revenge have taken their toll. What a gift of a part."
The programme was set in the fictional town of Parminster (aka Hitchin in Hertfordshire).
But with everything so neatly wrapped up at the end of series one, what could happen in series two?
Many fans have been taking to Twitter out of pure joy.

*** SERIES ONE SPOILER ALERT ***
We've been having a chat in the Newsbeat office and here are our top theories...
SHE GETS SACKED (*rename programme 'Foster')
She had her doctor's bag back with her at the end of series one but, let's face it, it can't be that much longer until the General Medical Council sees sense.
Dr Gemma Foster isn't fussed about the rules. She got a patient to follow Simon when she was suspicious of him. She paid that patient in, erm, sleeping pills. She ignored confidentiality and treated her husband's pregnant teenage mistress at the surgery. Oh yeah, there was the time she stubbed out a lit cigarette on a bloke's arm too.
When the medical career does come crumbling down, think about what a good party she'd throw. She planned every last second of that dinner party. And it wasn't even her throwing it. In fact, there wasn't even meant to be a party that night.
Other alternatives could include becoming a marriage counsellor or opening a private detective agency.
We suggest she does not become a driving instructor.
THE NEIGHBOURS ARE NEXT
Let's not forget how the Bakers across the road essentially threw the good doctor out of their house with her tail between her legs.
Anna Baker seemed especially pleased to get one over on Dr Foster.
What if Gemma turned her skills of revenge in that direction. There'll be a lot of white wine spilled before that gets settled.
SHE LIVES HAPPILY EVER AFTER
Remember that jealousy? Remember those looks of anger and injustice? Remember the state of her driving when she found out about another example of Simon's deceit?
Despite her saving a man's life at the end of the last episode, Gemma didn't seem to be a textbook case of someone over an LTR and ready to move on.
She's still fuming and she'll have Simon's forwarding address. She's not done with him yet.
Polly Hill, the controller of BBC Drama Commissioning, did seem to confirm that Simon will be back when she announced the new series.
She said the writer "has not finished telling the story of Gemma and Simon and there will be many more surprises to come".
