It's often been said that the greatest teacher in life, is life itself. Or maybe we've just come up with that.

Either way, most of us have been through something in our lives, then thought, "I wish I'd handled that differently".

Well sadly, until a time machine is invented, there's nothing that can be done about that.

But maybe some advice from 5SOS, All Time Low or Troye Sivan might help you the next time you're in a pickle.

Backstage at the Radio 1 Teen Awards in Wembley's SSE Arena the stars have been telling us what they wish their younger selves had known.

"I would tell myself to be confident in who I am and not let the outside world get me down," he tells Newsbeat.

"I think when you are a teenager you're learning about yourself, you're figuring out who you are and who you're going to be. And with that comes a lot of self-doubt.

"If I could go back now and just say to myself, 'Hey you're going to end up fine,' I think that would be very valuable."

"It would have been to chill out. Try and enjoy the ride a bit more," he tells Newsbeat.

"I used to take myself very seriously. Now I feel able to enjoy things a lot more than I was back then.

"Looking back it's a blur. I was either touring with my brothers or making TV shows or other things. I was very busy.

"I think now I'm really able to enjoy it."

Troye Sivan

"I would say relax and enjoy everything because everything is going to be pretty sweet," he tells Newsbeat.

"So just slow down, calm down and let yourself enjoy everything."

"Practice your instruments and try and be as creative as you can," he tells Newsbeat.

"And be ambitious and not so lazy. I was definitely lazy back then.

"Although I think being lazy is part of being a teenager it's the only time you can be lazy."
