Idris Elba: Luther album will reflect London artists
- Published
Idris Elba has told Newsbeat that his new Luther album will have London artists on it to reflect the TV show.
Luther returns to BBC One for its fourth series next month, with Idris back in the title role of John Luther.
But Idris, who revealed he was planning to make the album last year, said he has artists like Wretch 32 and Tanika involved.
It's not the first time the actor, who is also a DJ, has put his talents to music. He appeared on an album for the Mandela soundtrack.
He also uploaded a remix to the Skepta track Shutdown, external.
He's also revealed to Newsbeat that it won't be the last time fans will get to hear him perform.
"There's a very secret project, and I'm definitely rounding up some troops to do some other stuff.
"Now not necessarily me rapping but I've done two albums now. One for Mandela, one for John Luther."
"On the John Luther one especially because it's from London, it's about London and it should feel like it's from the show. I've got Wretch (32) on it, I've got Tanika on it, and I've got Shakka on it.
"I feel like as I grow as someone that does music, I can pull a lot of interesting people together. So there is a project that I am definitely working on where mans might have to bring out his bars again.
"But ultimately it really isn't about me."
Luther returns to BBC One in December.
