YouTube star PewDiePie launches Revelmode network for online video creators

YouTube's biggest star Felix Kjellberg, aka PewDiePie, has launched his own talent network for online video creators.
It's called Revelmode.
PewdiePie says he's put together an "Avengers-like talent squad" of some of the most popular video stars to help him.
"It's me and a bunch of awesome YouTubers coming together as a group to do awesome things," he says.
So far, the eight people signed up include vloggers, gamers and comedians.
CinnamonToastKen, Jacksepticeye, Emma Blackery and CutiePieMarzia are among the first confirmed names.
They're joined by Dodger, Jelly, Kwebbelkop and Markiplier.

They'll be forming what sounds like the equivalent of a YouTube supergroup - with millions of subscribers and billions of views between them.
The first Revelmode series will be an animation featuring all the squad members.
"Together we will focus on creating - from one-off videos to original series to gamey games to animatoons, music, clothes, charity drives, and more - really anything that's awesome in the eyes of the fans," says PewDiePie.

Revelmode will be part of Maker Studios, the multi-channel network (MCN) PewDiePie's been signed to since 2012.
YouTube allows multi-channel networks to operate on its platform.
They offer to manage and help promote channels of rising stars, often taking a big chunk of the talent's advertising revenue in return.
But many networks have been criticised by YouTubers.
They're accused of signing up tens of thousands of members, making them sign inflexible contracts and then doing little in the way of management and promotion.

In his video announcing the launch of Revelmode, PewDiePie said he hoped to run things differently.
"I think networks can be something very positive for everyone involved, they should be something that helps channels on YouTube grow and reach their maximum potential," he said.
But he admits being funded by an MCN makes the brand "lose its hipster cred".
At the moment, Revelmode only has space for the biggest online stars.
But PewDiePie hopes that one day, he'll be able to open the network to smaller YouTubers too.
