Paul Hollywood has revealed that one of the cakes baked during The Great Sport Relief Bake Off 2016 was so bad he burst into tears - of laughter.

Stars including Jason Manford, Kimberley Walsh and Will Young will appear in the four-part special.

However it's former footballer David James responsible for a "classic TV moment".

"His sculpting technique on a certain cake, I have never seen anything like it," he tells Newsbeat.

"In fact I broke down and not because I was sad but because I was crying with laughter."

Ironically it's David James' "big hands" which helped him carve out a 25-year career, where he played more than 800 games including 53 for England.

"I was crying with laughter some of the things he produced were incredible," says Paul.

"You just have to watch. It's one of those must watch TV moments."

We spoke to Bake Off judges Paul Hollywood backstage at last week's National Television Awards where the show was named best challenge programme.

The hugely successful show is expected to return for another series later this year, but there have been rumours that Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins may not return as presenters.

Mary Berry confessed: "It would be so awful to be without Mel and Sue. They are the humour, they are the warmth and the comfort to our bakers.

"We cannot give advice, but they can just give friendly advice and also, if they see a tear coming or someone a bit unhappy, they can come along and boost them."

The Great Sport Relief Bake Off 2016 is on BBC One on Wednesday night at 20:30 GMT.
