The tennis world has been reacting to the news that Maria Sharapova has failed a drug test.

She's received a mixture of support and criticism and that's just from players - never mind her sponsorship deals.

Andy Murray said she "must accept responsibility" while Serena Williams said the 28-year-old showed "a lot of courage".

The Russian player tested positive for meldonium, a substance she's been taking since 2006 for health issues.

"Clearly if you are taking performance-enhancing drugs and you fail a drugs test, you have to get suspended," the world number two believes.

Speaking to BBC 5 live he said: "I think, since 1 January, there have been 55 different athletes who have failed tests for meldonium.

"I find it strange that there's a prescription drug used for heart conditions and so many athletes competing at the top level of their sport would have that condition. That sounds a bit off to me."
