DJ Fresh has opened up about having thyroid cancer.
In a Facebook post, external, he told fans it was the second time he'd faced the disease, that his prognosis was "very positive" and that he's now in remission.
The Sussex producer, whose real name is Dan Stein, says he found out weeks ago but kept quiet to not look "unstable".
"I didn't want to say anything because I've been told it's a bad idea to air anything that makes you look unstable in any way," he said.
"The music industry is brutal and relentless and unforgiving."
The DJ says he was warned if promoters knew about his illness, he might not get booked.
He speculates that may be because his future income could be seen as limited or because he could miss gigs.
But he says that it'll take a lot more than cancer to stop him being on stage and entertaining his fans.
"Even if I have to crawl onto stage I will be there and I will never let you down," he says.
"You can trust and rely on me to do everything in my power to do my absolute best.
"I will be at all upcoming commitments. Though this next couple of weeks I might be a little bit less hyperactive than usual."
DJ Fresh goes on to say the surgeon who operated on him on Wednesday told him radioactive thyroid treatment was a "magic bullet".
"He didn't know that as I waited in the weeks before my operation, I spent most of the time singing and writing a song called Magic Bullet."
He also talks about the run-up to the release of Gold Dust, when he "nearly jacked-in making music".
"My mum told me to read Pablo Coelho's The Alchemist in which two brothers are digging for gold," he says.
"One gives up just before the other's spade touched gold. And guess which track came along and changed everything for me?"
