What the new Star Trek Beyond trailer tells us
- Published
The new full length trailer for Star Trek Beyond has dropped overnight.
It's the second trailer to be released after the teaser in December which split Trekkies but this time fans seem to be much happier.
Newsbeat spoke to film critic Joe Michalczuk who gave us his verdict.
"Simon Pegg (who wrote the film) and Director Justin Lin, who made his name on the Fast and Furious films, have excelled themselves here."

But what does this new trailer tell us about the film?
It's all about the characters
"Yes it's Star Trek boldly going fast and furiously where it's never been before - but as well as the incredible action sequences, including the destruction of the Enterprise, this trailer is far more character-centric than the first." Joe says.
Kirk is still affected by his dad
"We discover that Kirk is still haunted by the ghost of his father," Joe explains, "and the original bromance of Kirk, Spock and McCoy looks to be at the heart of the movie."

Mates matter
"That's what makes Star Trek great - yes it has the thrills of space - but it's ultimately about of a group of mates finding their way in the universe." Joe says.
This is going to be a fun film
"In the 50th anniversary year of the franchise, Star Trek Beyond looks like it captures the fun and adventure of the original series - so successfully re-imagined in JJ Abrams' reboot in 2009."
And Trekkies on Twitter seem pretty happy too.
