Gigi Hadid has sent a message of support to Zayn Malik after he was forced to pull out of a performance.

The singer was due to play at the Capital FM Summertime Ball at Wembley on Saturday but he cancelled, saying he had "suffered the worst anxiety of my career".

The gig would have been the 23-year-old's first solo UK performance.

The Summertime Ball saw other performances from Little Mix, Craig David and Ariana Grande.

"Guys, we're absolutely gutted that @zaynmalik is unable to perform tonight due to illness. We know you're with us in wishing him better," Capital FM confirmed.

Some fans were unhappy at the news and left the venue in protest.

After officially calling time with the band, he said: "My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band.

"I'd like to apologise to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right."
