Kanye West has been pictured meeting Donald Trump in New York.

President-elect Trump says he and the musician talked "life" before posing together for photographs.

Mr Trump said the two of them were "just friends" and described Kanye as a "good man" but did not say whether he would perform at the presidential inauguration in January.

Kanye was silent as he stood next to the Republican, telling reporters: "I just want to take a picture right now."

Reports from the US suggest Donald Trump may have been having difficulties in finding high-profile performers for the ceremony to make the start of his presidency.

Trump Tower is the headquarters for The Trump Organisation, the business run by the president-elect.

Kanye has been recovering from exhaustion at home recently, after spending time in hospital last month.

Since Mr Trump's success in the US elections security has been heightened at Trump Tower and it's here where the businessman has been co-ordinating his plans for his future government.

Earlier on Tuesday, Mr Trump announced the chief executive of Exxon Mobil, Rex Tillerson, as his choice for US secretary of state.

He also confirmed he would be revealing more details about his upcoming government.

Donald Trump tweeted: "I will hold a press conference in the near future to discuss the business, Cabinet picks and all other topics of interest. Busy times!", external

There is so far no sign of Kanye West's wife, the reality television star, Kim Kardashian.

Last year, Kanye said he intended to run in the US presidential campaign in 2020.

But more recently he said, had he actually voted in this year's election, he would have supported Donald Trump.

"I told you I didn't vote," he told fans in San Jose, California. "But I didn't tell you... if I would've voted, I would've voted on Trump."

The audience booed in response and threw things on to the stage.
