Kasabian promise 'monstrous' Reading & Leeds headline set

Kasabian have been announced as the second headliner at Reading and Leeds Festivals 2017.

The Leicester band join Muse at the top of the bill at the two events over August bank holiday.

They are vowing to "dominate" the massive gigs and have told fans they can expect new music.

Two Door Cinema Club, Flume, Fatboy Slim and Jimmy Eat World have also been added to the line-up.

"We refuse to do a festival now if we're not headlining," frontman Serge Pizzorno joked when he spoke to Nick Grimshaw on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show.

"We decided to buy a 10-grand sound system and we roll in with these speakers and they are monstrous, they are ridiculously loud so we just turn up and everyone else just goes 'Oh no, here they are'.

"We dominate the party and bands have moved dressing rooms because it's been too loud, which is a beautiful feeling."

Serge also promised the band will perform new tracks they have been working on, with a new single due in the very near future.

"I'm just putting the first touches to the new single now, it's an absolute dancefloor filler," he said.

Radio 1 is running a competition as part of its Jan Slam campaign for a fan to watch the band's headline set from the side of the stage - a sight Serge claims is like no other.

"What's amazing is the experience of seeing what we see on stage, standing on the same level and seeing it through our eyes is pretty special," he said.

"Sixty-thousand people moshing at the same time, it's really euphoric."

Reading & Leeds will take place on 25-27 August, in its annual bank holiday weekend slot.

Major Lazer, Bastille, Tory Lanez, At The Drive In, Architects, Glass Animals, Andy C, Danny Brown, Against The Current, While She Sleeps, Circa Waves, Rat Boy, Wiley, The Amity Afflication are all booked to perform at Reading and Leeds 2017.

Kasabian previously headlined Glastonbury Festival in 2014, the same year they released most recent album, 48:13.
