Chance the Rapper has rented out a cinema in Chicago to offer a free screening of new horror film Get Out.

The 23-year-old rapper had been tweeting about how much he wanted everyone to go to see the film.

Six hours later, he took matters into his own hands when he announced he'd bought all the tickets to the film at the Chatham Theatre in Chicago.

Fans quickly jumped on the opportunity, tweeting the rapper pictures of their free cinema tickets.

"Best film across any genre in a while, go see it today," the rapper tweeted after seeing the film for the first time.

But fans were not expecting the string of tweets that followed Chance's support of the film.

The horror film, staring British actor Daniel Kaluuya, plays on race relations in America and has topped the US box office in its opening weekend.

The rapper loves giving back to his fans, especially those from his hometown Chicago.

In 2014 he was awarded the city's Outstanding Youth Award for his contributions to youth activity there.

But Chance isn't the first celebrity to make such a grand gesture.

In January actress Octavia Spencer paid for a viewing of the film Hidden Figures at a cinema in LA, offering seats to families in need and announcing her charitable act on Instagram.

And one particular response to Chance's Twitter announcement suggests he won't be the the last.

The film is set to be released in the UK in March.
